AppLovin now returns 1.5x on ad spend versus 1.2x on Meta, a 25% improvement, and brings in 11% of Sur La Table’s new customers.
Sur La Table sells cookware, kitchen tools and gifts to people who love to cook. Its paid acquisition ran through Meta and Google, and both were doing their job. But two channels is a narrow base to grow from. The team wanted another source of new customers, one that would earn its place on return, not just add volume.
Sur La Table’s products are made for video: a pan searing, a knife through a tomato, a mixer at work. AppLovin gives a brand around 35 seconds of full-screen attention, inside apps where Meta and Google don’t reach. It was a chance to show the products properly, to people who weren’t already seeing Sur La Table’s ads.
We set up the account, verified the pixel, synced the catalog and connected third-party attribution, so every result could be checked against Sur La Table’s own numbers. Then we built the creative from scratch for AppLovin: full-screen video, end cards and product screens, rather than resizing ads made for a feed.
We launched broad and gave the algorithm room to learn before touching anything. Once the numbers held, we grew spend in controlled steps, managed bids and goals daily, and kept new creative going in every week.
AppLovin now returns 1.5x on ad spend, against 1.2x on Meta. That’s 25% better, on a channel Sur La Table wasn’t running before. It brings in 11% of new customers and is the best-returning acquisition channel the team runs.
“AppLovin has gone from something we’d never tried to the best-returning channel in our mix. Arc made it easy to get started and keeps finding more room to grow. We’re excited about where it goes next.”
