AppLovin now brings in 14% of Backcountry’s new customers and is its highest-ROAS acquisition channel, ahead of Meta and Google.
Backcountry sells outdoor gear and apparel from a deep catalog of brands. Meta and Google carried its paid acquisition. The team wanted a new channel that could bring in customers who weren’t already in its funnel.
A big catalog is one of AppLovin’s strengths. After the video, product screens can show each shopper the items they’re most likely to buy, pulled straight from the catalog. For a retailer with thousands of products, that means every ad can end on something relevant to the person watching.
We set up the account, verified the pixel, synced Backcountry’s catalog and connected third-party attribution. Then we built AppLovin-native creative: full-screen video to grab attention, and end cards and product screens to turn that attention into clicks on the right products.
We launched broad and gave the algorithm time to learn. From there we grew spend in controlled steps, managed bids and goals daily, and kept new creative going in every week.

“Arc took AppLovin off our ‘someday’ list and turned it into a channel we count on. Setup, creative and scaling were all handled. We’re really excited about what’s ahead.”
